This weekend, I was presenting three scientific posters in a psychology convention that took place in Montreal (thus completing #29 on my 101 list). For people who don’t already know, I’m an undergraduate student in psychology (not a major, like in USA, more like 3 full years of psych classes). Here’s how was my weekend…
Friday
I left in the morning with my colleague and one of his friend who drove us to Montreal. The weather was perfect (a solid 15 degrees celcius and blue sky) and I was thrilled to be back in Montreal for few days. The convention took place in a hotel in downtwon, minutes away from shopping undergrounds!
I think it wasn’t clear enough where to head, once we were in the hotel. There was a lack of indications at the entrance, but after few minutes of looking around, I found a place where it gave us indications and we headed towards the registrations and then in the room where we were going to show our posters.
Around 1PM, I finally put my posters up. It was a little bit stressful, since I was going to be alone in front of my two posters, which I had never done before. I also soon discovered most people walking around and asking questions about posters were professionals, researchers in the same area of search as me (e.g. anxiety). It was quite an experience and one professor from my own university even asked me to tell her once my director and I would finish writing out article, so she can name us in her own article. Quite wicked!

Next to my poster about attachement and GAD.

Next to my 2nd poster, which was about attachment, worry and mediation effect of cognitive vulnerabilities.
After almost two hours of standing up and suffering in my heels, I left the hotel and headed to McGill metro station, in order to do some shopping. At that moment, I was mainly focusing on buying small shoes to be comfortable in them (heels were killing me!). Couldn’t help to buy myself a milkshake on my way to there (my 1st milkshare of the summer and my 1st Ben & Jerry’s to life!). It was quite yummy. Mostly with the lovely weather of Friday.
After walking around the shoe stores, avoiding pricey shoes, I finally found one pair that satisfied me and only for 20 bucks!
To be honest, in the end, my feets are still sore for all the walking and standing and can’t tell you how good it feels to be resting at home right now!
Other than that, I visited an apartment, which I’ll most likely be getting and spent the rest of my Friday night at my best friend’s.
Saturday
The weather had changed a bit and it was colder outside. Still, I love hanging out in Montreal. Love the heartbeat of my hometown. I didn’t really attend anything at the convention and went shopping instead, looking for a dress for my friend’s upcoming wedding.
Well, I did find one.
I couldn’t take a picture that was good, so you’ll have to wait after the wedding to see it! Anywho, I found the perfect dress for me and the matching shoes. I have to say, I would never buy something so expensive usually (300$ CA overall, with taxes), but with my tax return and the fact I’ve never really found any satisfying dress before (ever!), I felt like I HAD to buy it!
Later that day, I went to see a movie with one friend (Green Zone). Rest of the day was pretty relax.
Sunday
It was last day of the convention. I was presenting another poster (co-author on this one). There weren’t as much people, but it was cool nonetheless. It was fun speaking with students from other universities and talk about our projects.

Socrate (my colleague) and me with our poster.
My colleague and I left right after and headed back to Sherbrooke. We were so tired. My feet were sore of all the walking (and from wearing those new shoes) and I felt exhausted, but overall it was a nice experience. Spent the night cuddling with boyfriend and we took Monday off, spending it together.
Talk about a long weekend!
